Regional Museum Of Natural History Mysore
This Regional Museum of Natural History is converted from a single museum that is situated of New Delhi. This Regional Museum of Natural History has various branches of various parts of country like Eastern Region that is Bhubaneshwar, of Bhopal that is central region, of Mysore that is southern region etc. of the western region that is SawaiMadhopur and North-East region that is Gangtok, more two museums were established.
The former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi makes the origin of this NMNH who brings various new projects of year 1972 on the 25th anniversary of independence of India occasion. Firstly, this NMNH is inaugurated on 5th June 1978 of a building that is taken on rent for the public visiting and that day is coincidentally the World Environment Day also.
This program is divided into various portions as extension, interpretation, out-reach, and in-reach program. of the gallery of the museum, services provided meant as interpretation programmes. For the schools that reach the museum earlier also, there is a program provided outside that is named as extension program. For the people who cannot able to reach the museum, so special service of out-reach program is provided. There is also a service of in-reach program that is provided to those people who do not came to the museum.
Many special programs including out-reach, in-reach, and nature camps were organized by this museum at the time of winter and summer vacations. Various other programs that contained discussion sessions, analysis and observation of problems of pollution of the urban areas, project assignments, museum studies, nature explorations, also ecosystem exposure of wild life sanctuary were also organized of this museum.
Programme for Children with different Abilities
To explore the various abilities of the children and their needs related to locomotion, mind, speech and hearing, and ability of vision, various programmes on education basis also organized by this museum. There were some guided tours also included by this museum with programmes like Touch, Feel, and Learn along with Braille materials, and use of audio-aids etc.
Teacher Orientation Workshops
In such programmes, some workshops were arranged for the teachers so that they are aware of the resource material of the museum that help them to teach of a classroom on such matter.
In the Auditorium of the museum on third floor, film shows were arranged every day for the public starting from 11:00 AM and 3: 00 PM.
Information services/ Library
In the library, books related to ecology, wildlife, natural history were available.Â Students and researchers used these books for reference or project work.
There were 3 galleries of exhibits of the NMNH of New Delhi.
The Gallery #1 is related to the â€śIntroduction of Natural Historyâ€ť that symbolizes the flora and fauna diversity and various varieties along with evolution and origin of life of the country. The topics such as establishment of life, their evidences, and sequence of evolution were shown of this presentation. of another section of the gallery, topics related to the animal and plants, their habitat, camouflage, benefits and harm of the insects, use of the plants, pollination of the flowers, endangered animals, aerial and aquatic life, and adaptation of the terrestrial etc were shown.
The Gallery #2 is related to the â€śNature's Network that is system of Ecologyâ€ť that symbolizes the food chain, plants as primary producers, ecosystem of the world, plants interrelationship, wildlife depletion, deforestation, decomposition, pollution problem, human beings and plants, food chain, food web, and biogeochemical cycles etc were shown.
The Gallery #3 is related to conversation that describes the nature conservation. The forests diorama shows two views of a contrasting way that is forest ecosystem that is rich and balanced and other one is barren terrain, denuded and deforested. Due to the uprooting of the trees by the human being, there is quick deforestation of the forests through exploitation of plantation.
These are the exhibitions that are managed by the museum from time to time on the 4th floor of the museum. These exhibitions were also managed outside the museum temporary. of the outer countries such Japan, USSR, USA, these exhibitions of the form of festival of India were shown from the department of Ministry of Forests and Environment.
