Assam State Museum Guwahati
In the heart of Guwahati City of Assam, there is a Museum of Assam State that is situated at the south end of Dighali Pukhuri Tank. This museum was situated on the road of Bordoloi and has huge collections of sculptures. The upper floors of this museum have collection of manuscripts from the culture of tribes that are shown of display. There were homes of tribes that are reconstructed through which one can walk the way. The visitors can examine the huts of tribes that are reconstructed to know about the efforts that are made of this museum. Other collections include the display of instruments of music and weaving display.
In year 1940, the Samiti of Kamarupa Anusandhan inaugurated this museum. The founder president was late Kanklal Baruah. The state government has taken the charge of this museum of year 1953 and since then the life style of Assamese Community was incorporated by the efforts of this state government.
Instead of all the museums of the India, this Assam State Museum is the largest museum with multipurpose functions. There were various sections of the exhibits displayed such as various sculptures from the region of Assam that includes arms section, folk art, anthropology, crafts, metal, wood, stone, terracotta, natural history, and miscellaneous along with the epigraphy etc. The displayed collections are rare of this museum.
In year 1985, a library was established of this Assam State Museum that has collections of stenographic materials. Other collection includes journals that Asiatic Society, biography, books related to art, encyclopedic work, periodicals, culture, and mythology etc.

There were Volvo Tourist Bus Service for Darjeeling that is at the distance of 627 km from the city of Guwahati and also other cities too. The cost of these ourist buses are up to Rs. 2000 per member from travelling of Guwahati to Darjeeling.
Timings and Ticket Prices
This museum is opened on all days except Mondays, government holidays, 2nd and 4th Saturdays and timings for visiting this museum are from 10:00am – 4:30pm of summers and from 10:00am – 4:30pm of winters.
