Having founded way back on May 19, 1894 under the Indian Companies Act of Anarkali Bazaar Lahore, Punjab National Bank has crossed a long journey to achieve its current recognition of being second largest commercial Indian bank owned by its government.
This bank has big customer base of urban and remotest of rural areas with branch network crossing to 5000 of 764 cities and many rural locations. Recent estimates recorded that Punjab National Bank serves to more than 37 million customers having their association with the bank of various forms.
London based Bankers Almanac ranked Punjab National Bank at 248th position as biggest bank worldwide. A record estimated total assets of Punjab National Bank to approximately US$60 billion. This bank has international presence with banking subsidiary offices of the UK and many operational branches of Hong Kong, Dubai and Kabul. Representative offices of Punjab National bank of Almaty, Dubai, Oslo and Shanghai make it globally networked.
